The
great problems in Guinea are almost never reported in the
German and European media. We believe the main reason is that
Guinea was until 1958 a French colony. May be the media in
France pay more attention to this country. Diplomatic relations
with Germany were established the year of the independence
of Guinea in 1958.
Since the declaration of independence by Sekou Toure in 1958,
Guinea had only 2 presidents. After the socialist authoritarian
regime of Sekou Toure, the colonel Lansana Conte came to power
with military support. And obviously he does not intent to
hand over the power by democratic means before its own death.
Guinea ranks among the poorest and underdeveloped countries
with more than 8 million inhabitants and an average yearly
income of 190 € per head.
Unemployment rate is high. There is a huge lack of industry,
the infrastructures and energy supply are very limited. The
medical care of the population is very poor. As in most African
countries, there is no health insurance in Guinea. Everything
is missing, the equipment as well as the medicines.
The republic of Guinea isn't able to provide a sufficient
number of schools and teachers. The ratio of the first day
at school amounts to approx. 50%. The alphabetization campaign
stagnates and the illiterate ratio of the total population
is approx. 74%.
For this reason we built and opened our school "Groupe Scolaire
of Friends for Africa Wiesbaden e.V." in one of the poorest
neighborhood of Conakry.
Education costs only € 25.- for one child for one school
year.
For this reason we ask You, dear visitor of our homepage,
please help the children in Africa and Guinea and donate as
much You can to offer a better future to the children in Africa.
We are looking for donors and sponsors to extend our assistance
to the children in Africa.
