The current situation in Africa

The terrible life situation of humans in many African countries intensifies dramatically despite every efforts of national and private development assistance for Africa.

The current situation in Africa

To the existing problems of poverty, unemployment, water shortage, malaria and AIDS, life under most extreme climate conditions, the deep food crisis is adding to all misfortune.

Daily bread becomes ruinous

Main cause of increasing hunger is further to the lack of basic food by ineffective agriculture systems, first of all the drastic price rise of the last two years. In the last year the price for food rose around 57%. Rice is today 3 times more expensive as it was in 2006. In the same period, wheat's price increased by around 136%, corn by approx. 125 % and soya beans by nearly 107 %.

The price rise is also a consequence of the unreasonable production of bio gasoline which is caused by the rich car driving industrial nations at the expense of the poorest countries on earth.

Rice is deleted from the food plan

The predominant part of West Africa including Guinea, Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Liberia, the Ivory Coast, Ghana and a greater part of Central Africa are worst affected by the food crisis.

In many countries unrests threaten, because the increase in incomes remains extremely behind rising prices. The incomes remain at the edge of the survival level and lead to explosive tensions and hunger revolts.

Also Guinea could become a powder barrel. Under the military government of Lansana Conté the discontent of the population already grows for many years. All past strikes and unrests were brutally suppressed by military action and many people were killed.
