Primary school at Conakry
In
order to reduce a little the lack of schools in Guinea, we
built our school in one of Conakry's poorest neighbourhood:
Enkocinque Symbaya. The school teaches approx. 430 children
in 9 grades since October 2007. 2 classes are used as nursery
school.
For the opening, the German Ambassador visited our school.
He appreciated the project of a private German association
as a welcome assistance for an improvement of the life situation
of children in this neighbourhood. He praised the fast realization,
which was finished within 8 months only.
In a country such as Guinea is it absolutely unusual that
a citizen like our Tonton Soriba Sylla helps his homeland
with German support to built and operate a social - school.
Most Guineans leave their country if they have a chance to
and they never come back once they are settled in a foreign
country.
After conclusion of the first school year the situation is
very positive. Our school became a firm component of children's
daily life who are so lucky about their chance to attend school
there.
Our project showed that people are very industrious, if there
is something concrete to do. And the children are very eager
to learn if they gat a chance to go to school. The quality
of instruction and the free school attendance got around themselves
fast.
We still could take in a lot more children, but our school
is already working at full capacity. That is the reason to
search for more money to build the extension (look under "extension")
with additional classrooms. After finishing this extension,
we will be able to accept approx. 150 pupils more.
Please help our registered society as a donor or sponsor
to help the children of Africa
